2018 Scholarship Recipients
Jacob Brown
Jacob will be attending Purdue University in the fall to study Computer Science. During the 2017-18 school year, he was a member of the Avon School and Community Ambassador Program as well as the National Honor Society, both of which gave back to the community in numerous ways. Jacob was also an Avon Incredible Mentor and a member of the Avon Marching Black and Gold for four years, winning state three times.

Jada Coursey
Jadah Rose will be attending Purdue University in the fall to pursue a degree in Elementary Education through the Honors College. Throughout high school, her leadership skills have been seen both inside and outside of the classroom. Jadah is the 2017 winner of self-expression and interview in Avon’s Distinguished Young Women. She is an Ambassador for Avon High School and a member of the National Honor Society. Jadah Rose was voted president of yoga club, choir, American Sign Language Club, and an officer of Speech and Debate Club. She is a member of Avon’s top mixed Chamber Singers choir and qualified for state on Avon’s Speech Team. She is a cadet teacher at River Birch Elementary where she also tutors in the afternoons in preparation for her future career. On Sundays, she teaches at Harmony Baptist Church and knows her love for God and children will help in the journey towards her future at Purdue this fall.

Emily Keith
Emily will be attending the University of Cincinnati (College Conservatory of Music) for Music Education in the fall. She is very involved in both Accents and Attraction show choirs being a dance captain of both groups. Along with those groups, she is a member of Indiana’s All State Choir and Chamber Singers, Avon’s top mixed concert choir. Emily is also the current Distinguished Young Woman of Avon (2018). She is a member of Avon’s National Honor Society for Dance Arts , National Honor Society, Avon’s mentoring program, National Spanish Honor Society and one of Avon’s student ambassadors. She is absolutely thrilled to receive further education at Cincinnati and continue advocating for the importance of arts in schools.

Miranda Schwent
Miranda will be attending Marian University to study marketing with a minor in pastoral leadership. She was involved in DECA and ASCAP during high school. Miranda also participated in peer tutoring classes during her senior year of high school. Miranda is also very involved with her community. She has and continues to volunteer countless hours with the community and her church, St. Susanna.
