2019 Scholarship Recipients
Megan Castrataro
Megan will be attending IUPUI in the fall to pursue a major in Informatics, focusing in database security, and a minor in Spanish. Throughout high school, she was a member of the Avon Marching Black and Gold, marching trumpet her freshman year and serving as drum major her sophomore through senior year. She also played trumpet for Avon's wind symphony, wind ensemble, and brass choir. Outside of band, she served as the president of the Avon chapter of National Honor Society and was a member of Avon's house of representatives for student government. She was also involved in Avon's Ambassador Program (ASCAP) and Spanish Honor Society the past two years. She has been a Girl Scout for 12 years.

Payton Hartman
Payton will be attending Purdue University to study Hospitality and Tourism Management this upcoming fall. She has been extremely involved in Avon’s Choral Program; being a part of this year’s three state finalists groups, Chambers Singers, Allegros, and Accents. Payton spent this year in multiple leadership positions including dance captain for the Avon Accents mixed show choir, as well as a Vice president of Avon’s ambassador program, ASCAP, and a member of AIM, the Avon mentor program for upcoming freshmen mentors. When not busy at school or practice, Payton has worked the past year and half at Charbonos. It is here that Payton developed her interest to study in the field of hospitality. Payton is thrilled to be attending Purdue to study her passion.

Mikenzie Roberts
At Avon High School, Mikenzie served as Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Model United Nations, and Leadership Board Member of la Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. She also spent senior year with the Hendricks County Probation Department as an intern in the Work-Based Learning program.
Mikenzie will be attending Northwestern University in the fall to study Human Development and Psychological Services, Psychology, and Spanish. |
Cooper Zuranski
Cooper will be attending IUPUI for mechanical engineering this fall. He has been a member of the Marching Black & Gold and the World Drumline for 4 years on various instruments. Throughout his band career, he has earned 6 state championships, 2016 4A BOA national champion, and WGI national bronze medalist. He has also earned a contract to play snare for Shadow Drum and Bugle Corps from Oregon, Wisconsin this summer! He is the secretary to the high schools Eco club, is an Avon incredible mentor and is in the national honors society.
